Species ID Suggestions

Comments (2)

Thank you Ashley. Natral there is over 9000 species of plants occurring in the area, around 6200 of which are endemic. The Fynbos floral kingdom encompasses 46,000 km² (Netherlands-33,000 km²-1400 species, none of them endemic.)Table mountain supports 2200 species, more than the UK! So yes, the term is very broad and identification requires a fair amount of expertise. If you look at my other spottings, most of them fall within this category, you will notice that I actually do identify these species, although it takes time and research; I have 7 reference books and this is not enough sometimes, I also approach experts in the field for identification if required. I would rather give a broad identification, than just blurt out what I might think it may be.
Natral, "It is the term given to a collection of plants (a vegetation type) that are mainly shrubs and is comprised of species belonging to South Africa's southwestern and southern Cape."
