Description:

This large tree is also called False Acacia or Yellow Locust. It produces very fragrant clusters of white, edible flowers during a short (about 10 days) blooming period in the spring. It is considered a major flower for honey bees to visit.

Habitat:

Habitat: Dry to moist soils, especially those derived from limestone, on roadsides and disturbed sites, woodlands old fields.
Growth Habit: Deciduous medium-sized tree growing up to 24 m. Trunk is straight with irregular branching. Forms thickets.
Bloom Time: Spring.
Longevity: Short-lived, usually less than 100 years.

This large tree is also called False Acacia or Yellow Locust.. This large tree is also called the Yellow Locust it is introduced to Canada. This tree has fragrant,edible,and have white flowers it's flowers bloom during a period of time in Spring.In the eastern U.S. it is known as a major bee's also loves the honey from the Black Locust flowers.
The Black Locust tree can grow to 40-100 feet tall. The bark looks rough in person The bark is dark brown. The leaves are dark green in color. The leaves are oval shaped.The Black Locust tree is used for making hardwood.
