Description:

growing on fairly exposed, west facing, dry stone wall. I was told the dry stone walls around here are often black on the inside due to the residue from the smoke produced by the cotton mills around this area during the industrial revolution. I suspect that's the cause of the darker patch on the rock to the left of the first photo but it could be a different lichen?
