Field Notes

Description:

The details of this slime mold are amazing considering how tiny it is! This is the sporangia stage, which is characterized by yellow goblets on top of brown stalks with fluffy, yellow spores coming out of the goblets that had opened. Some were still closed and had not released any spores yet. They were 2-3 mm tall.

Habitat:

Growing on rotting wood in a mixed forest.
