Field Notes

Description:

Large bulk on tree branch broken off from high winds the previous day from storm front.

Habitat:

This specimen was observed in a County nature Preserve dangling from a branch of a former fallen Pine tree. It also had fallen and got caught in the former. It was in an area of mixed woods of Slash Pine, Oaks (several species) and smaller growth. The area is shaded due to height of most of the trees. It was previously a Pine flat woods that has (through succession) been invaded by the oaks.
