Description:
The apothecial discs are reddish-brown to black and tend to be flat; they range in size from 0.3 mm to 1.5 mm. The apothecial rim is complete or at times a little lumpy. The thallus will take up a circular growth pattern if unimpeded, reaching a typical diameter of 4 cm. The central area of the thallus is lumpy or areolate with a crazy-paving appearance. The prothallus ranges in colour from white to dark blue.
Habitat:
Found on a beech tree, usually is possible to find it on both the bark and wood of deciduous and coniferous trees, especially in the nodes between branches, while this was found on the very trunk. Also found on twigs and fences.
