Field Notes

Description:

A fern with tongue-shaped leaves, hence it's name "Hart's-tongue". The sori on the downside of the leaf form a line-shaped pattern.

Habitat:

A remarkable characteristic of this species is the lack of information about the ideal habitat. We do know that they like humid and shadow rich places. I found it on the side of a canal, so near water. The only plants that grew nearby were Pteridium aquilinum and Fallopia japonica.
