Description:

The color is grayish, whitish or brownish grey. C. rangiferina forms extensive mats up to 10 cm tall. It grows on humus, or on soil over rock.

Habitat:

A Pine forest floor on the Gulf Park Oak Ridge Trail. This trail is part of Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trails, Gulf State Park, Alabama The trails run along marshes, secondary sand dunes, swamps, over creeks.
