Field Notes

Description:

My first yellow-bellied racer! These snakes have gorgeous yellow bellies. This one had some messed up scales (see last two photos). There were little groups of this every now and then. I'm not sure if these are from encounters with predators or snake fungal disease.

Habitat:

Grassy area with lots of dumped trash to hide under

Notes:

I was experiencing some weird vignetting on a few of these photos, but I checked and my camera isn't doing this as of right now.

Nice! I still have a lot of snakes in my range that I haven't found live yet or at all.
That's awesome! I've only found one speckled king and only a handful of ring-necks. Mud Snake is next on my list!
Thanks Ashley! I found this at a local spot that another herper friend took me to, and so far, between the two of us, we've found a speckled king, ring-necks, a coachwhip, a rough earth snake, and now this (he's probably found more)!
Congrats on your lifer :)
