Fuzzy-foot
Xeromphalina kauffmanii
42.9984, -85.6604
Field Notes
Description:
Found these tiny mushrooms growing all over trees after some rain. Largest cap couldn't have been more than 3 mm across.
Habitat:
Briggs Park and the streets of northeast Grand Rapids
Notes:
Because these were growing on hardwood trees and not conifers, I'm guessing they are X. kauffmanii not X. campanella. Other than the size of their spores, this tree preference seems to be the only reliable differentiating characteristic.
There is also no wikipedia page for X. kauffmanii but it's discussed on the campanella page, so I put that as the wikipedia reference.
