Field Notes

Description:

Pale grey thallus, becoming darker toward the center, where we also find dark orange apothecia.

Habitat:

Here, observed on a dry rocky-and-grassland escarpment, dominating a large Skradin valley, covering bare calcareous rocks. The rich Skradin valley is close to Krka National Park, park itself enclosing a river forming several waterfalls and lakes, and surrounded by a lush broad leaved forest. However, this escarpment is much more arid, and covered by a vegetation adapted to prolonged arid conditions.

Notes:

Found on the same rock like this one: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1142174695 . Interesting thing was that the rock was paler in color where the lichen peeled off...
