Field Notes

Description:

Stumbled upon these tiny jelly mushrooms on a twig with some lichen lying on the sidewalk. A couple of centimeters long at the most.

Habitat:

Streets of northeastern Grand Rapids.

Notes:

It is known to grown on dead willow, but I have seen that many jelly fungi are also parasitic to other fungi and I think there is some chance it is actually a parasite of the lichen.
