Description:

It was growing in a boggy area... The plant was believed to be a cause of brittle bones in sheep. The plant grows in acidic areas so it could be the lack of chalk and calcium in the ground that was the real cause of the britttle bones in sheep. In Norway some stand of this plant cause a disease tranlated as 'elf fire', the toxicity could be caused by the plants response to a fungal infection
