Description:
The African thrush is a very common resident bird in West Africa. Rather typical thrush or blackbird size, it is brown above and paler below (could also be of buff colour below), it sports a typical thrush-type orange beak.
Habitat:
This spotting was another interesting one spotted from my window of my residence in Freetown. We are in a totally urban part of the city if you can really find a totally urban patch around... A very hilly and wooded area, where shackles mix freely with urban gardens and modern constructions. When it comes to this beauty, it's range is restricted to the Equatorial part of the continent, and it can be found in a broad range of wooded habitats.
Notes:
I would, in normal circumstances, be ashamed to post spottings in this kind of habitat (or background). This here is not a garbage collection place, it is a backyard garden in central Freetown - a lot of cassava, banana, a mango tree and few palm-trees... and a huge pile of plastic garbage. I really can't say why all of this s**t is sitting in this garden and I do not want to criticise my neighbours, who seems kind and gentle. But I really think our society and our way of living is sick!
