Description:

A fruticose lichen characterized by the coral like resemblance.

Habitat:

Spotted on a limb in a coniferous forest.

I had some photos I posted of Sphaerophorus tuckermanii in my lichen group and they said they were able to ID them based on the fine branching in my photos: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/723483859 I think the main stalk is much thicker than the smaller branches in tuckermanii, but it's worth a double check as I'm not an expert, just passing along what I learned.
Thanks Machi. I remember struggling on which of the two to go with. I have posted Sphaerophorus globosus before and of course its here in the PNW. So I will change it.
Beautiful photos. Have you looked into Sphaerophorus globosus? I thought Sphaerophorus tuckermanii was more heavily branching.

Definitely looks like it should be underwater...coral-mimicking lichen. Great spotting Brian. Thank you for sharing :)
