Field Notes

Description:

About 12 feet tall with simple leaves and smooth bark. I believe it is an evergreen, but we haven't quite hit winter in Southern Texas yet.

Habitat:

Common tree planted in all the new neighborhoods north of Houston.

Notes:

I'm afraid my tree education has been lacking and I have no idea what kind of tree it is.

Species ID Suggestions

The Holly oak should have rounded treetop, it's evergreen and bark is smooth when the tee is young, hope I helped a little bit more :)
My online search suggested the same thing, but I could not tell for sure.
This three looks like Quercus ilex, Holly oak...
