Bark documents the many things that happen in the lifetime of a tree. It changes as it ages, often from smooth to rough and sometimes color to color. There are many other stories that the bark can tell. Scaring and healing can record weather, animals, insects or birds. Cavities connect to the living world of the tree. It can also have a beauty in and of itself, that tells another kind of story.
Please add all spottings of bark that have a story. Young, old, healthy, damaged, healed, or just plain beautiful, and with other elements of the world the tree shares. Identify the tree if possible, if not add supporting photos of the whole tree, leaves, or other pertinent information. This mission is for Texas only.
