Field Notes

Description:

Rounded shrub with drooping branches to 1.5 m. Oval leaves 20 to 80mm long. Rounded slightly flattened flowerheads.100 to 120 mm diameter. Orange to scarlet .

Habitat:

Rocky sandstone slopes in the extreme southwestern Cape

Very nice. I have a picture of something less colorful but very similar in structure. Perhaps i have a clue now. Ill spot it. Great pic.
Alice its quite similar to flowers of Mitragyna parviflolia
I never saw any quite this elaborate, but you don't forget the proteas you see.
