Has six small black dots on its abdomen.

Tropical rainforest

Notes:

This species has been known to feed on small bats. The species is named after French zoologist Marie Jules César Savigny.

Jonathan, I looked through some sources online and found that Costa Rica has five Argiope species, and have narrowed them down to A. argentata or A. savignyi. I'm leaning toward A. savignyi right now, due to two small markings of black that enter the white part of the abdomen near the posterior end of the spider. I haven't seen those markings in any pictures of A. argentata. Wikipedia has a picture that looks similar to mine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argiope_savignyi) as well. What do you think?
