Field Notes

Description:

A male red-crested Pochard, recognizable with his round orange head, red bill and black breast.

Habitat:

Lowland marshes and lakes in southern Europe and southern and central Asia. This one was spotted in a small harbour along lake Geneva, amongst other duck species and swans.

Notes:

Droplets of water show how well its feathers are working as a water repellent. An excellent diver as shown on the 4th shot! Spotted locally near my home for Earth Week 2011
