Field Notes
Description:
Erect perennial, 20 - 40 cm, with rod-like stem that is sometimes sticky at the nodes and a solitary quill like leaf. Bears large flowers that are pale yellow, flused with brown or gray. Shortlived with the flowers lasting from midday to sunset.
Habitat:
Mountains and flats often on clay in the southwestern Cape.
Notes:
This specimen was located on a misty day on Devil's Peak, part of the Table Mountain National Park. The flowers are not that commonly seen due to their very limited longevity.
