Description:

scavenger that eats dead and decaying corpses

Habitat:

Northern California foothills and valley, in research I have found they range from Canada to the southern tip of South America and have 5 subspecies.

Notes:

Very important part of ecosystem IMO

Sorry, I was thinking of their grey head instead or red. It is Black Vulture.
Do you mean Black Vultures? I realize some of them appear gray but Black Vulture was still the accepted common name last I checked
When I was growing up we used to have a saying in our family if something really smelled. "It would stink a Turkey Vulture off a gut wagon!" We seem to have mostly Grey Vultures in Florida.
