The only way to tell is either by a DNA test, or if it lays an egg then it is a female! I saw a group of four this afternoon, 2 yellow and 2 green, and will post photos later.
Unfortunately not, they appear to have a large variation of colouring due to being bred for cage birds, some are mainly yellow, others mainly green, they have variable blue patches on the tails, but they all have a rosy or peachy face. We know they are breeding around here but haven't seen any nests yet. I have posted other pictures taken last year.
can you tell if its male or female?
Just added a second picture, it is eating very young almonds. They also like my figs but this years crop is still some way off.
