Description:
Medium-sized frog with numerous dark spots on the back and that light-colored line along the upper jaw. Differentiating itself from the other leopard frogs, on this Plains version the dorsolateral folds are broken near the posterior end, and that last little section of the fold is displaced a tad closer toward the dorsal midline.
Habitat:
Near a permanent pond that is surrounded by forest.
Notes:
Interestingly, this species is present throughout Missouri except for the entire Ozark region.
