@EppieBillena You're welcome. Could you do me a favor and vote (click 'favorite') for two of my foto's in the #earthweek competition? It's my fox: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/5479971 and my deer: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/5500570 Thanks!
Thank you very much for the information. It is the flower of spring and of the rainbow now. And a flower I will associate it with Holland most of the time.
@EppieBillena A little research last night did not unveil the original Tulip color(s). The flower seems to originate from Turkey and was brought to the Netherlands in 1593. Ever since it was cultivated into an enormous variety of colors.
Thank you very much. I did not realize how mankind had change its world in a single flower it became a sea color like the rainbow. Our ancestor would not recognize a tulip now. Wow!
@EppieBillena I don't really know, I'll look into that for you. All I know is that there are thousands of color right now and that farmers are always looking for new colors, shades and mixtures. I had a word with a farmer last year. Interesting to hear how they work and how much effort they have to put in one single new flower!
Those flowers are beautiful and amazing that they thrive when their native origin is in the middle east Persia if I am not mistaken. Are those hybrids what were the original colors do you know?
It's tulip season again. I haven't been out this year yet, but I'll probably visit the "Keukenhof" in the next weeks for some excellent flower shots.
