conifer tree with flat needles, red shredding outer bark

Habitat:

coastal temperate rain forest

Notes:

One of the most useful trees in the Northwest forest, the old ones are mostly gone from the Oregon coast, either from old forest fires or logging. New ones are coming in, though.
