Field Notes

Description:

A nonvenomous constrictor species, these snakes can reach lengths up to 8 feet. I'm pretty sure this one was an adult with it being the glossy black color.

Habitat:

This particular one was spotted at the zoo, not in captivity, just passing through. They prefer wooded areas. They are normally found in Eastern and Central United States.

Thanks for the help identifying. I can't believe how close I got to take this photo because snakes are in my comfort zone. I knew it'd make a for a great shot though.
