Description:
Foliose lichen, ca 8-10 cm in diam., lobate. Lobes separate, 10-20 mm wide, with irregular margins, slightly overlapping, ciliate. Upper surface: pale green, slightly wrinkled, matt. Apothecia prominent, up to 50 mm diameter; margin finely irregular, with a deep green disk that is perforated.
Habitat:
Growing on a small branch, ca. 2.5-3 cm diameter, that had fallen from a tree during a recent storm.
Notes:
‘The current taxonomy of the Parmotrema perforatum group of lichens recognizes six closely related species divided into three species pairs, a pair comprising one apotheciate and one sorediate species. Each pair is characterized by a distinct combination of lichen acids.’
