Field Notes

Description:

This was a tiny orange fungus, about the size of a thumbnail.

Habitat:

This tiny fungus was growing on a small, half buried, piece of wood next to some new construction at a marina.

Species ID Suggestions

Red Polypore

Pycnoporus sp.

Comments (1)

I don't think the genus Pycnoporus has a common name. A particular species, Pycnoporus cinnabarinus (http://www.rogersmushrooms.com/gallery/DisplayBlock~bid~6711.asp), is called the cinnabar red polypore, though.
