Don't feel bad, I did not know what it was either. Im constantly learning something new on this website!
Thanks for correcting me. Sometimes I jump the gun because I've come to learn a lot of common birds for FL. Never heard of a lost or wandering Whooper. My bad.
Sometimes they get loose or injuried. There was a movie about it. I was going to put the web site on but I cant find it. Here is the news on it @ CNN http://articles.cnn.com/2012-01-10/us/us_alabama-whooping-cranes-migration_1_operation-migration-whooping-cranes-chassahowitzka?_s=PM:US
ebsharrett1950- Its a Whopping crane. Mitch and Sarah checked it for me. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Whooping_Crane/id/ac
You are probably right. I have never seen or heard in S.FL. I did not see that it was at an injured rescue park.
This is p.young's spotting. However, I have never seen a sandhill crane this white. Please refer to the Cranes mission for multiple sandhill crane spottings. http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8495106
Sarah I believe this is a sandhill crane and not a whooping crane.
Surprisingly, I don't have any manatee pictures. If I get any, I will certainly join. I should have pictures for Herbal Remedies.
Hi ,sarah. Yes, I will add the crane and join this mission. Thanks for asking. Would you like to join the Manatee mission and plants for herbal remedies, I stared under local missions? Thanks!!
Beautiful spotting. Please consider adding to the Cranes mission.
No problem. I was just curious because they are so incredibly rare. That location definitely makes sense.
State wildlife park for Injured animals, Crystal River Florida. I have never seen one, so I was not sure what kind of bird it is. Thank You for the ID.
It looks like a Whooping Crane. Where did you take this photo?
