Field Notes

Description:

Large grey bird with a red cap. I found three of them and one was in a very frisky mood, jumping up and down and ruffling his feathers!

Habitat:

Plains and fields that are mostly open. ( you have to have room for a landing) They dig out insects and also eat rodents and frogs. Easily recognized by their calls in flight.
