Field Notes

Description:

white mass of tiny egg like spheres

Habitat:

temperate forest, dead log

Notes:

I didn't know what this was when I first spotted it. Took me a bit to find out that it was the chocolate tube slime, because it looks nothing like it in its mature form. I also spotted that as well, in my next post. Short Hills provincial park.

There's already one of the name been closed. ?
Thanks Mark. Might I also suggest to Lucky to name the mission 'Slime molds of the world'.
Thanks Mark and Yasser for helping out Lucky. Glad to see the mission made it global. Can you provide the link? Thanks for the comment Antonio and thanks again Yasser. Already been getting some cool and unique spottings, looking forward to sharing them.
Awesome! Thanks so much Mark for helping me out! And thanks Yasser!
Logan, just wanted to let you know that the Slime Mold mission is now officially global! Dan, feel free to add this spotting and any others you see fit to that mission. Hooray for slime molds! P.S. Dan we're looking forward to seeing all the awesome you encounter on this current trip!
Lucky... it should be right to go within 24hrs. A good global mission - all the best with it.
Great find Dan,never saw, with this striking yellow ,and the series is perfectly taken, very good, congrats and thanks for sharing
I've messaged her. She will get back on it soon.
It said my message was sent to her "other" folder for messages. I looked at mine and it was all spam that I've never seen before
You can message anyone on FB friend or not unless they have specifically blocked you. I'll try to contact her.
Still no luck, I'm guessing since I'm not friends with her on facebook, it doesn't notify her of the message.
Try emailing to karen.loughrey at facebook.com
I email Karen and I never got a response. It was her @projectnoah.com email. any other ideas?
There is one for Lichen, but I don't think for slime molds. It's a good idea. Try emailing KarenL, to find out about making your mission global.
Thanks Dan. Do you happen to know what the process is for making the mission global. I looked through the FAQ in the mission section and could not find anything. Any help would be awesome. Also, I've tried looking for missions for slime mold and I couldn't find any.
Thanks Logan, I've updated the category. I'd love to add them if your mission becomes global but for now your mission is only local for your area, as per the PN mission guidelines.
Very cool! I've never seen chocolate tube slime mold look like this. Just so you know, slime molds are not fungi, they were removed from that kingdom a few years ago. So if you get a chance, I would be honored if you added your slime mold spottings (both recent and old spottings) to my mission which I'm trying to get up and going http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/43573086
