Field Notes

Description:

A smooth, worm-like snake; reddish-brown or pink, with a blunt head and tail. The belly is either white or pink, and the eyes are small black spots on the side of the head. Adults 5 - 10 inches (13 - 25 cm)

Habitat:

Stony hillsides, prairies, and in sandy or rocky desert areas

Notes:

This is a very secretive species and does NOT like to be out in the light, thus making them quite hard to photograph. This is the best shot from that day.

Brilliant find. We have similar in Aus and another snake that specialises in tracking and eating the blind snakes. Nature can be tough sometimes... but amazing.
