Field Notes

Description:

Forming circular "shield" about 6cmacross and yellow-green to grey above, brown below. Thallus somewhat looks like miniaturised lettuce.

Habitat:

Found on a dead and decaying branch discarded next to a pathway through the mixed forest (oak, beech, spruce and fir). This forest is on lower slopes of Jura mountain range, and at outskirts of a larger settlement (Gex) in Geneva lake valley.
