Description:

Grey variant form (forma herinii) of Evernia prunastri.
Evernia prunastri thallus is typically pale yellow-green due to the presence of usnic acid but occasionally is lacking usnic acid and pale grey variant forma herinii appear without the yellow-green tints.

Habitat:

Widespread and generally common on deciduous trees and frequent on old wooden fencing, more rarely in other habitats, including dunes where it can be terrestrial.
This one was observed on a Holm oak tree twig

I am no lichen expert, AlexKonig.It is just that since this year has been very dry, after the first freezings, I find only lichens and I started to look at them with interest. Anyway, I will do my best to try to help you.
still nice, even with no correct coloration :) . I allready see: next time , i come for an lichen-id suggeston to you, That would be the smartes move!!
Thanks AlexKonig, I agree with you, lichens look more difficult and less conspicuous. They change also a lot depending on the degree of hydration. This one confuounded me a lot because it looked very much as Evernia prunastri but the color was not correct.
nice one, mine looks very similiar, but i found few other names. I'm still not so good lichen, they confuse me more as fungi. :)
