Well, most put it in fungi and it's not wrong. I just don't share this idea, because the hosting fungus changes morphology and physioligy once becoming "lichenized" with the other component of the symbiosis, the algae. So after being lichenized, the original fungus isn't the same anylonger - which makes a new species that can't clearly be categorized under existing standards.
ok, just asked, because then I change my lichens, too. No discussion needed ;-)
LOL....not again that discussion. Actually it's hard discussed - one fraction says clearly yes, it's counted to fungi. Another fraction says no, it needs a seperated categorization. As long as this question is not clearly answered I put lichens into "other". It's just the most fair sollution right now.
But aren´t lichens fungi, Lars?
Thanks, arlanda - you know how it is with lichens and amateurs like us...it's more spotting them by accident...was surprised as well as i detected the red dots on it
Beautiful lichen, Lars, I did not know it.
They can also be seen on the first one. Beautyful. Poor tree, which builds the habitat for that.
