Field Notes

Description:

Bright yellow crusty 60mm across; white thin patchy filamentous around;

Habitat:

On the south side of a huge eucalyptus regnans; very tall, dense eucalyptus forest

Notes:

Also known as 'Dog vomit' and 'Scrambled eggs'.
Slime molds are in their own group Myxomycetes.
This species is the largest spore producing structure of
any slime mold.
Pic#3 shows an ant interested in the mass.

I'm really starting to wonder what other people are feeding to their dogs.
why haven't i see this before, very nice argybee, i had always find them complet ripe. So like this whit the soft spot: do they really look like dog vomit
