Field Notes

Description:

I find patches of these scattered around the mountain ridges. They are bleach white with little nodules on them.

Habitat:

Among lots of crowberry and tundra plants at the top of Pillar Mountain

Notes:

Lichens are composite organisms that are composed of algae or cyanobacteria living among multiple fungi species in a mutualistic symbiotic relationship
