Field Notes

Description:

Shiny white pear shaped slime mold up to 3 mm high and 1 mm wide.

Habitat:

Grew on a dead broadleaf tree (unidentified) stump in a broadleaf forest.

Notes:

Photo 1 & 2 also shows parts of a purple jellydisc ( Ascocoryne sarcoides). Spotted in Landgoed Bannink in rural area of Colmschate, Holland. (sources:see reference)

They sure are, Charlie. It was only when I looked at the photos on my computer that I noticed in photo 6 there is, just beneath the white slime mold, also a dark brown almost black phase. I wonder if it's the same species, sure looks that way.

Slimemold are fascinating ....especially if you can get the different stages ..these are just starting out .
