Field Notes

Description:

Slime mold. Myxomycete. All together measures just a few milimeters, in this case 5-10 mm. The last picture was been taken one month later. You can see how the peridium (the skin that covers the sporocarp) is broken ans is liberatin the spores.

Habitat:

Under a dead pine trunk.

Notes:

The picture is upside down since it grows in the lower side of a fallen tree.

Thanks Joshua Asel. I visit the place regularly and for a month I have been watching the slime mold. It was already mature but it did not release yet any spore. The diffuclty is when to publish the spotting. It is still there decaying very slowly.
