Field Notes

Description:

Powdery blue to green, lichens growing on the bark of a Mango tree. They're quite pretty, and I also observe some algae or moss maybe, growing besides them.

Habitat:

Found growing on Mango tree (Mangifera indica) bark.

Notes:

This is my first lichen spotting and I was conflicted on which category I should place this spotting, plants or fungi? Then, doing some little research they are more of a symbiotic relationship between fungi and algae. Because there is no category for algae, I just put it on fungi instead. They are a very diverse group and some are indistinguishable from others, I'm not exactly sure if it's in the genus Physciella or Flavoparmelia, I placed it in its class level to be safe.
