Description:
Ricaniidae; Ricaniinae; Ricaniini; Ricania taeniata Stål, 1870. This Ricaniid Planthopper was spotted on the sticky spiral capture zone of an Argiope aemula's web. The Ricaniid Hoppers that are encountered frequently in our area are Ricania taeniata and Ricania speculum. I think that Ricania taeniata is seen less frequently than R. speculum.
Habitat:
This Ricaniid Planthopper was spotted, in our backyard, stuck on a spider web.
