Mission: Mitigation
Mission: Mitigation is a science research team from Arlington High School in LaGrangeville, NY. We are partnering with the New York State Department of Transportation to assess the impact that the construction of a new road will have on the endangered Blanding's Turtle in our area.
Due to heavy traffic congestion near Arlington High School, the New York State Department of Transportation is re-routing Stringham Road through a wooded area. This construction project will take the lives of the animals that inhabit this area, including the endangered Blanding's Turlte and the threatened Indiana Bat. The DOT is trying to mitigate the impact of the construction on the animals by creating tunnels for the turtles to use for crossing the road, and creating an enhanced nesting area for the turtles. Mission:Mitigation is performing a baseline study on the biodiversity of the area. Please help us identify our species!
