Description:

Size: 5 mm. Attracted to artificial lighting. Family Delphacidae.

Notes:

Habitat/Crop(s) damaged:- Paddy. Typical symptom of damage known as hopper burn - yellowing, browning and death of above ground parts in the form of circular burnt up areas and presence of grayish brown nymphs and adults at the base of the plants. A major pest in all the rice growing countries of Asia. It also transmits grassy stunt and ragged stunt diseases.
