Description:

Phidippus audax is a common black jumping spider with white markings. It's mouthparts (chelicerae) are bright metallic green. They don't build nest to catch prey like other spiders. They prefer open areas and use flat vertical surfaces like this large window to spot and run down their prey. Size - approx. 1 cm.

Habitat:

Spotted on a large glass window waiting for prey to arrive at the National Butterfly Garden in Mission, Texas.
